Imagination Stage presents the return of audience favorite P. Nokio, a hip-hop musical by musician/playwright Psalmayene 24. P. Nokio re-imagines the classic tale of Pinocchio, the wooden puppet with a slight honesty problem. This updated version, called “inspired and quirky” by the Washington Post, takes the story from Italy to the enchanted land of Hip-Hopia. G. Petto is a computer game designer and his creation is a digital character rather than a puppet. P. Nokio attends the Old School to master style, originality, and swagger in his quest to become a real boy. Unfortunately, temptation rears its head and P.Nokio is led astray by fun and trouble, getting caught up in a tangle of lies that endangers his newfound father. To save G.Petto, P.Nokio must wise up, keep it real, and learn that truth is the mightiest weapon of all.
